Bridging the Theory-Practice Gap

Many of the choices that designers and engineers make during a design process impact not only functionality, usability, or aesthetics technology, but also values might be supported undermined via technology design. Designers can actively for values, this awareness has led to development various ‘ethics by design' approaches. One such approach is capability sensitive (CSD). Thus far, CSD developed from theoretical-ethical point view. This article aims bridge theory-practice gap entering into dialogue with design-experts on ethics in general particular. An empirical study, consisting thematic interviews nine design-experts, was conducted order explore design-experts' experiences designing what they regard as strengths weaknesses CSD, if could practical use their (research) practice.
